to the World
Mind Plus International Chess Academy was founded in 2021 in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka, with a simple yet powerful vision — to create a space where children could learn, grow, and discover their true potential through the game of chess.
What started as a small local initiative has quickly expanded into a global academy, now reaching students across Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, and other regions.
From the beginning, our goal has been to make high-quality chess education accessible to every child, regardless of background or skill level. We firmly believe that chess is more than a game — it is a tool that builds confidence, logical thinking, patience, and resilience.
Our journey has been shaped by the dedication of our coaches, the enthusiasm of our students, and the support of families who share our passion for holistic development. Over the years, we have expanded our programs to include competitive training, school partnerships, international tournaments, and inclusive classes for children with special learning needs.
2021
Founded in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka — first students enrolled.
2022
Expanded school partnerships and launched competitive training programs.
2023
Launched branches in Australia and the United Kingdom.
2024 – Now
Canada and beyond — 500+ students, 50+ schools, growing globally.
